A hierarchical approach to high resolution edge contour reconstruction

چکیده
EEcient edge detection algorithms such as Canny's fail near curve singularities. Moreover, the standard linking algorithms used on top of these detectors often fail because of instabilities in the tracking process (due to multiple responses to the same edge and interference of nearby edges). We propose a hierarchical approach to edge detection based on a graph stabilization method that allows bifurcation resolution in stages. Curve sin-gularities are recovered at the last stage by using \top-down" feedback to select the best curve connections.

Fast Distance Field Interpolation for Reconstruction of Surfaces from Contours
One simple and robust way to get a reconstruction of surfaces from a given contour stack dealing well with branching and other problems which are generally difficult to solve is based on the well known MC-algorithm. To overcome the staircase artefacts produced by the MC-algorithm Jones et. al. 3 proposed to use a distance field interpolation between the slices and to run the MC-algorithm on thi...
متن کاملEvaluation of iterative reconstruction method and attenuation correction on brain dopamine transporter SPECT using anthropomorphic striatal phantom
Objective(s): The aim of this study was to determine the optimal reconstruction parameters for iterative reconstruction in different devices and collimators for dopamine transporter (DaT) single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). The results were compared between filtered back projection (FBP) and different attenuation correction (AC) methods. Methods: An anthropomorphic striatal phant...
متن کاملGlobally convergent edge-preserving reconstruction with contour-line smoothing
The standard approach to image reconstruction is to stabilize the problem by including an edge-preserving roughness penalty in addition to faithfulness to the data. However, this methodology produces noisy object boundaries and creates a staircase effect. The existing attempts to favor the formation of smooth contour lines take the edge field explicitly into account; they either are computation...
متن کاملNon-Oscillatory Hierarchical Reconstruction for Central and Finite Volume Schemes
This is the continuation of the paper ”Central discontinuous Galerkin methods on overlapping cells with a non-oscillatory hierarchical reconstruction” by the same authors. The hierarchical reconstruction introduced therein is applied to central schemes on overlapping cells and to finite volume schemes on non-staggered grids. This takes a new finite volume approach for approximating non-smooth s...
متن کاملPalm and Finger Segmentation of High Resolution Images using Hand Shape and Texture
Amongst the diverse range of available biometric systems, hand based security system is considered as the oldest one. This paper focuses on dealing with high resolution images obtained from the HP scanner. The main advantage associated with this work is the ability to utilize the normal scanner for palm as well as for fingerprint acquisition so that the high cost associated with the palm and fi...
